Other Vendors - More Options?
Jan 18th, 2008, 10:49am

A quick thank you to Ken for putting this together.

As I know Ken is aware, there are a number of other full service vendors that are not listed here.  Many that offer more than just one technology so that they are able to truly match the service/solution to the clients often, unique needs.  There is no reason for a client to be forced into using a technology because it is the only one that a vendor offers.  As we are all aware, square pegs do not work with round holes.

I am interested to see how many other organizations out there offer multiple vendors for their full service "Managed Events."

I am the Events Manager for a conferencing company called MeetingOne. We are a web conferencing vendor with an entire suite of services, including facilitation, registration, production and e-commerce.

For web conferencing, we offer Adobe Connect and our in-house developed web conference software.

There were one more whose services I am using i.e. Gomeetnow. Its a multi-functional web conferencing for pc and mac.  Its universal technology ensures that everyone can join the meeting with NO DOWNLOAD whatsoever, supporting attendees on Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix, or iPhone. Can also be used for remote PC access. Smiley

There tends to be a lot of confusion (or rather double-meaning) about the word "conference". There are two distinct meanings of the word, yet profiders of "conferencing" products and services do not produce "conferences" and visa versa.

Conferencing: involves multiple parties involved in a live conversation. ei: Conference Call with multiple people on the phone. Or Video Conference with multiple people involved in a live conversation with video equipment so all participants can see and hear each other. Conferencing is used in a collaberative setting where input is encouraged from all participants.

Conference: typically has been an in-person meeting where a series of presenters - "present" information to the audience with Q&A either during or after the presentation. The audience primarily watches and listens to the presentation and are not actively involved in the presentation.

The name of this forum implies that is is targeted toward "web conferencing" - not "conferences that take place on the web" which are sometime called virtual conferences.

My question is - which of these forums is best used for web conferences?
